Greatest Military Film Soundtracks

For me it begins and ends with "Patton," but there may be other opinions out there.

Here's the full score (including the greatest film speech ever).

Full Metal Jacket has some good music, but all of the above are excellent.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.......technically not a military film, but set during the Civil War a few military scenes. Great soundtrack.

Listening to this song suddenly makes the idea of challenging the entire Warsaw Pact circa 1989 to duel with only a Viking helmet and sword seem like a really good idea.

The Great Santini, especially the opening title sequence, titled "The Santini Mystique". Kind of interesting that the score for that movie was created by the same guy who did music for Animal House, Elmer Bernstein.

Here's the music from the title sequence, I thought it set the tone nicely.

I'm fucking retarded. I looked at this twice and didn't see "soundtrack"

Apocalypse Now is great, but the biggest take away from it wasn't created for the movie, it was just used. I like the overall soundtrack from Platoon, too, but the biggest take away was Barber's Adagio - just stuck to the movie rather than being written for it.

Rambo always had great soundtracks. Don't believe me? Watch it again.

Saving Private Ryan had a great soundtrack.

The English Patient is a military movie and its soundtrack is simply amazing.

If you consider Lawrence of Arabia a military movie (and it is) then that soundtrack likely wins hands down in my opinion.

Not exactly a "fully" military movie, but Last of the Mohicans had some of the best music of the 90s. We Were Soldiers had a fantastic track entitled "Sgt Mackenzie" that lapses into bagpipes on the soundtrack (not in the scene) that is pretty intense if you know the lyrics.

One of the greatest soundtracks of all time for any style movie, really.

not a soundtrack but from the movie

Battle of the Bulge

the Germans ask the Americans to surrender.
The American goes to the German camp to give the answer from the American commander.

the American: "he says nuts"
the German: "nuts? was ist 'nuts'?"
the American: "it means go to hell!"
