Counterinsurgency, David Kilcullen, read during travel and between tree work and plumbing chores (relevant only in that it deserves more focus than I gave it, IMO).

I liked the inherent review/repetition going from his basic articles, to applications in AF and Indonesia, to personal small-scale action, and back to broad principles (I'd group ch. 5 and 6 as excellent review).
Also liked his candor in "lessons learned"/AAR.

Although from different points in his career, his footnotes tie things or update his thinking at least up to 2009/10.
Well written, applicable.
