RoboCalls

I am losing my fucking mind with this endless barrage of calls that either try and sell some bullshit or just offer dead silence. I am thinking of installing an App called Robokiller.

Anyone using it? How does it work? Anyone have a better solution?

Discuss........

I don't have a better solution, but apps like this are horrid if you have concerns related to privacy. By it's nature, it has to intercept all incoming calls and evaluate them to make a determination. Their own terms of service blows as you're giving them license to do almost as much as they want with the calls, to include recording them. Lastly, you're giving this app control of your camera and microphone. If this were simply a service that detects a robo number and blocks it, that's one thing. This app seeks for more.

It is what it is and not necessarily more invasive as your cell provider, but this just adds another layer.

My Google Pixel phone has the ability to block these calls. I need to explore it. They are a pain!
My issue is I use my cell for work and I get calls from all kinds of numbers.

My same problem. I desperately want to cuss them out, but ear it may be a potential or current client.

My OnePlus Has Call Blocking as an option - it's a manual process but is just one Long Press and Select. I also use Google Voice which auto blocks known spam numbers, and has a "Mark As Spam" option for those it misses. Never used an "App" to do it. The guy who previously had my SIM number was a deadbeat - I got a ton, after a few months of clicking block, block, block, I get way less spam calls now.

Isn't part of the problem just assholes and their Bots out there scooping up phone numbers of public businesses and selling that info?

One pro-active thing that comes to mind is to change the way you display your phone number. Couch it inside of a photo to help prevent bots from being able to scoop that up. alt tag the photo as something other than #phonenumber.

I have clients send me their number & a time to call. My number is nowhere on my Website and not on Google. So I have that advantage and it works for me so far. Folks that have me call them are sincerely looking for help.

I recently started using Twilio to send customers SMS push notifications for orders and updates. I pay a Monthly rental of $1 for the phone number and 3/4¢ per message. I can do it from my computer or my phone via a browser. It's a one way app only. Sending ->out.
While doing the research for Twilio I ran into lots of different apps that may/may not help.
But, perhaps you could place a *button* on the Website to send SMS direct to you that a client is asking for info, or needs help. Twilio does have help with that kind of scanning for bot/scammers.

If there is not an app out there to help you navigate this issue, then some of the SOCNET big brains need to get on it!

They use various levels of deceit. Like using your area code and exchange and then spoof the last four. Now they are using my number to spoof their calls. I like the robocalls for cash. Might be worth the $47.

Google call screening is the most brilliant feature I've seen in smartphones in years. I absolutely love it.

I always wait for the clicks until the actual live person answers.

I then say "I want to fuck you in the ass."

They hang up. Every time.

I am the same. They’ve gotten fucking sneaky. I’ve been called by my own phone number. For anyone that gives a shit, if you call me, and I don’t pick up leave a voicemail. I listen to them and call back or not.

If I call someone and they don’t know my number, I text ’em. “Yo it’s Stretch call me back”.

It’s been fail proof.

Stop using your cell number as your ID and instead give out a sudo number to any vendor, your dr, dentist, mechanic, supermarket, etc, etc... and your robo calls will drop off to close to none.

Turn ringer off on that sudo number. Problem solved.
