Seems like a bit of an odd question to me. You have to serve three years in an RM Commando unit beforehand, so I guess that would make it 19 years old at an absolute minimum. As for the oldest I've heard of people in their early forties still working as field operatives (as opposed to admin, etc.), so pick a number roughly in the middle.

MOst people who go for SF are either corprals or sergents, so I'd say the average age is around 26.

But so what?

i think the requirement to serve 3 years in a commando has been waived but...you'ld probably have to sell your soul to pass the acquaint without atleast two years in a cdo

Just bought the Book "Black Water" by Don Camsell. Pretty good so far, I'm halfway through. BUt he also claims to be th youngest member of the SBS, at age 19 - but Duncan Falconer also made that claim?
And how could a 19 yr old possibly have enough experience to be considered for special forces?

Gents,

A boy soldiers could easily get into spec ops. If they joined at 15 - they be a full screw by 18 and eligible to go for selection, with 3 years experience.

The SBS is part of the Royal Marine Commando Brigade, and yes there is a small reserve squadron, only available for former members.

The SAS has 2 reserve regiments spread throughout the country. 21 and 23 SAS.

So the SBS have 3 sections (altogether from 100-300 operators)?

The SBS(R) is based up north and Aptitude/Selection is also, as far as I know, open to experienced members of the RMR.
