Bosch on AMZ

Very well done, beautifully photographed. I've read little of the series by Connelly but this production does a great job with it. Only one episode has been released so far, so you can't pull a House of Cards marathon with it. But man, I'm anxious to see more of it. It's a bit like noir in color.

Damn, April? Time, she flies. The first season was released on AMZ yesterday, finally. Going to start watching tonight.

I stumbled across this show the other day and watched the first three episodes. Quite good. Much better than most American cop/crime dramas. Very plausible. I especially like the use of the anthropologist. You see coroners all the time in crime shows; but almost never a hint of archeology and anthropology.

Just saw episode 4.

**SPOILER ALERT**

When the verdict goes 'against' Bosch, I like that little QBVII touch. Don't think I've seen it anywhere else.

I also just now noticed the detective story cliche. The sultry jazz playing in the background when he's home, off the job. I noticed I liked the music, but only now realize it has been a mood effect in each episode. Nicely done.

This is so far one of the better detective stories I've seen in a while; and certainly for an American show. (We like a lot of the British productions in our house; and even a few Australian ones.)

I just figured out another cultural connection to this story. The protagonist is named after the Dutch painter with the same name. http://www.hieronymus-bosch.org

It was bothering me when I heard his full name in one of the episodes (I've now watched 7 of them). I must have learned about the painter in HS or sometime around then.

I've read all the books, had no idea there was a series until now. I'll have to check it out.

They recut the premiere episode (from a year ago) for the completed first season. If you didn't see the original around the time I first posted about it, you won't know the difference, but if you did, and you don't watch the new first episode, you could be confused---I only caught it because my son had not seen the first one and he was watching it while I was grilling-- I said, 'wtf?'

As to the jazz, you'll notice that the first scene in his house (awesome house, btw) the stereo is arranged one way--original episode--and then it's arranged another after the re-shoot/re-mix. Pretty funny.

They cut out the hot ME who Bosch had a relationship with, which is a bummer.

Took a class on Northern Renaissance Art in college. H Bosch was one of my favorites. It seems they may have had psychedelic drugs back then.
LOL.

Great show! Titus Welliver is a very under rated actor. I watch Deadwood re-runs all the time. Silas is one of my favorite characters on that show. Love the Bosch books too.

I thought season 2 was quite good but... I'm usually pretty willing and able to divorce a book from a movie and keep them as distinct art forms--either they work or they don't... That said, I would think if you hadn't read the books this series would be hard to piece together.

Also, the first season spent a lot of time on the case of the young boy's bones in the hills--not a mention of it in this season.

And, finally, these 10 show seasons are getting old--especially if you binge watch after waiting a freaking year for the next season to start. Pisses me off!
