The Equalizer

Watched it yesterday. I thought it was just an OK(+)movie. It did have some really good action scenes, the first 20 minutes was extremly borning(like paint drying) but it did set up the movie perfectly. I would recommend catching it at a matinée If you want to see it on the big screen.

I was surprised to see "Hit Girl" Mindy McCready in a supporting role.

Good action/shoot 'em up flick. The bad guy role was well-played and Denzel continues to be one of the screen's coolest motherfuckers.

This movie was awesome. Denzel goes "Man on Fire" on the bad guys, without a gun. This is well worth the money!

Me thinks you meant: Chloë Grace Moretz

Yes, that is what I get for reading Wikipedia :)

Thanks for setting it straight.

Great movie from start to finish. Much more hard hitting than the old school TV show.

Good action flick. Pretty predictable plot, seen dozens of times before. But, good escapism action film and as usual Denzel Washington does a good job.

Thumbs down

There were so many times the bad guys could have just killed Denzel if they wanted, but instead chose to watch him, to learn about him because... because... well there was no real reason why.
Or instead of just shooting him in the head in his doorway, the bad guy decides to have a long conversation with him.

I always liked this example of shooting instead of talking

KidA, If you liked Open Range, you will also like Broken Trail. Also starring Robert Duvall. Highly recommend.

Watched this last night and enjoyed it, as did the wife. Reminded me of being 14 and watching Rocky and thinking I could go out and whoop the ass of the world.

Clearly setting up for future versions, I just hope they're as good.

It's on Redbox.

Leopardprey - seen it and enjoyed it as well! A more recent Duvall flick is "A Night in Old Mexico" which was decent if you like Duvall.

Bleh. Attempted three times and still cannot get to the end. The only good thing is his watch.

I liked it the first time, when it was set in Mexico and titled Man On Fire.

It was good up to all of the dead guys strewn about the Moscow mansion, it took a trip to full retard then. Other than that, classic Denzel style.

"Monologuing".

Another great line from the "Incredibles".

I like "Man on Fire". If this is like that, I'll stream it on Amazon.

I thought it was a very good action movie and better than its counter-part, John Wick. Wick, was good also, but just not as good. :)

When I was 6-7 years old I made up things in my head when I played football (and wrestled).

There was a make-believe evil on the other side of the ball from me - somebody messed with my mom, my sister, my family. Nobody taught me this it was just the way I worked myself up to kick my opponents ass every game.

This movie reminded me of that, and this is why i liked it so much.

I see all these remarks and wonder where the FOGs are. No comparisons to the TV series of the same name?

Since it aired from 85 to 89 most of us in that time frame were spending lots of time in places without TV - and phone service.
