No comparison plot-wise (until the VERY end cut).
While I enjoyed this movie, I believe I preferred the weekly, one hour, beginning to end TV show.

What's an FOG? (smiles)

This one doesn't have an annoying child in it - just a hot russian prostitute.

There are similarities, but worth seeing both.

Great action flick. I ditched my CCW, in favor of carrying two wine corkscrews.

Enjoyed this movie, though the nail gun scene was a bit over dramatic I thought. Still good.

Watched this last night. I enjoyed the movie. You can definitely tell they had man on fire in mind when they made it, just a little more Hollywood.

More Russian prostitutes would have been nice. All in all not a bad movie. Did he use a gun to kill anyone in it though?

Guns are for novices. The Equalizer does not need a gun. If you had been through SF's level IV ninjutsu phase, like most 1st Group members go through, you would have learned that.

Watched this on an airplane recently.

Good action film which I'm not normally a big fan of. Think a well done mix of Jason Bourne, The Last Boy Scout, and First Blood.

Denzel is best in one of two action modes: "Training Day" Denzel and "Book of Eli" Denzel. His character in this film was much closer to "Book of Eli" Denzel. My only complaint would be that the Russian prostitute part of the story got lost a bit in the middle of the film.

I thought that the cinematography was excellent and (to me) added to the movie's value. I felt like it was a well done, highbrow action film and would have paid full price in a theater or watched it multiple times on cable.

I enjoyed it, even though it was full of just about every action movie cliché in the book.

But, as Buzz Kilman used to say during his Drive-In Reviews, there were a lot of quality kills in this one.

Also wondering why they included his former CIA boss and her husband, played by Bill Pullman.

The former boss I kind of get, as a source of information. But the only purpose Pullman served was as a little dialogue filler and also as a bit of a MacGuffin, if you notice during his and McCall's last conversation the director tried to leave the viewer thinking that maybe Pullman's character was somehow involved with Pushkin.

If that was the director's intent, he'll have to work on inserting that type of stuff, because it was pretty weak. Of course Pullman specializes in playing those kind of slimy double crossing characters, so maybe it was just a matter of poor casting. Or good casting, I suppose, if a viewer wasn't really familiar with Pullman's previous work.
