Any chance they'll ever cover Wyatt Earp? Or is it the kind of show that doesn't tell the viewer who they'll cover in any given week.

DON'T know. Last week's episode was about Fredrick Douglas. I just caught on to it.

Interesting, but nothing I really knew before from the many documentaries and reading I have done. Next week is about Gettysburg.

When Bill O'Reilly was still on FOX he did the same show with Western legends. But, I don't think he ever did Wyatt Earp

The war should've ended with Gettysburg, and in a sense...it did.

If Lee would have listened to Longstreet....There's a good chance you would be sending your taxes to Richmond.

I agree, but Lee let his stubborn resolve get the best of him (my opinion).

It also didn't help that his eyes and ears (JEB Stuart) was riding around looking for glory instead of doing his job as a Calvary Officer.

Regardless, the South was all in. Every able body man and equip.

The North was fighting with one hand behind their back with plenty of Joe's in reserve and manufacturing ability. The longer it went the more likely a Union victory.

If there was a chance for a Confederate victory it needed to be quick.

Gettysburg sealed the deal. But, I still stand behind my Longstreet comment.

I agree completely, coupled with Jackson's death, Johnston soon to be cut off--it was like a fox chasing down a tired rabbit, just a matter of time. But God Bless them on both sides, to have ended such a horrid conflict like the warrior gentlemen they were. Perhaps a trait, sadly lost forever.

They should, his whole legacy is tangled up in both his legend (which he promoted actively) and all of the lies and omissions of his life that were conveniently left out.

His legacy was probably helped by the fact that he outlived all of his contemporaries. Also, at the time he was writing his memoirs and living in Los Angeles, the movie industry was just gaining a foothold and he met a lot of people involved in film making.

While true, many disagree and feel JEB suffered some blame that was not his doing. Two sides to every tale, but I do agree that his presence would have helped. But, there's always that 'historian' Monday morning quarterbacking, I just admire the balls on those men--both sides.

Absolutely. JEB was a great Calvary Officer. And Longstreet was outstanding as well. And of Course RE Lee, what can you say?
I remember seeing some historian years ago talking about how Lee messed up royally at Gettysburg. The host of the program, said something along the lines, like "Well, I guess RE Lee isn't the great general people have thought he was. What do you think would have happened if he had not been the commanding general of the CSA?"
The historian said. "The south would have lost 3 years sooner"

...on that token, what if Jackson had Lee's command? It is what it is...

You know it isn't PC to discuss such things now.

Or even Longstreet. The south definitely had the better generals/leadership. If they would have had the supplies & logistics, we might still be fighting that war...oh wait a minute, lol
