My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate
I am the captain of my soul.

Why is someone as innocent as me subjected to unprovoked attacks?

To remember, and then go back to the ledgers and the commuter train, that was impossible. He knew he would eat his heart out if it ever came to that."

T-7's, one CWIE (red ball bag), M-3's,
probably getting ready to jump a C-119.
Since the USMC gets hand me down gear,
could be late 1950's ...
or mid 1960's.

2nd Force stood up in 1957-8. It was during the first deployments to Vietnam that they realized they would likely be making enemy contact on on most patrols and needed to carry something that was better for a protracted fight than the M3. As cool as the M3 is, five of them against a platoon of AK's is pretty much a nonstarter. No matter how much of bunch of badasses the five guys are.

That said, the units probably kept them on the TO&E for years.
