^^Good info. They must have been a decent and heavy pull when snagged--especially at that size.

Snagging is like another sport in itself. When I was young, me and my brother use to snag Mullet for bait. We didn't know how to use a cast net at the time, so we had no choice. But it was fun as heck though, with some good fights as well.

Hate getting skunked. Lots of pulls but no hook ups.

Now that my boy is not playing lacrosse anymore it give him more time to fish. He just started fly fishing this year as one of his roommates is big time into it so we got him an inexpensive starter rod combo for Christmas which is producing some good results. He caught these on the South River near Waynesboro in VA. The downside of all this is he discovered Orvis.

Are you still on the South? I'm pretty close by...don't forget the section of the South that runs through The Waynesboro Nursery property.

I like the kyped jaw rainbow on the left.

I have a few rods and reels, Sage/Winston, stored. Let me know before he runs down the "brand new rod/reel from Orvis hole".

Glad he is flyfishing and catching!

It's partly in downtown Waynesboro, another section runs through farm country and through the Waynesboro Nursery property. It's not a bad little river to wet a fly from novice to advanced. Some of the avenues have been tromped down and fish become skittish towards summer when shadows and terrestrials begin to rule....

Having a fat, bigmouth pig over for dinner .

Ha ! Not what you thought huh ?

1st cast yesterday in the pouring rain at a small state park pond. Everyone trout fishes there but I drag a Slug-go rigged weedless through the surface salad. This pig hit 10 ft from shore in less then 10" of water. 6.5 lbs. That's a good dinner fish. I really do prefer the white firm flesh of a largemouth or smallmouth over any other freshwater fish. Keep the pics. coming.
