Suddenly the Duke loss doesn't seem so much like a fluke.

Yeah, Virginia was tight...and Ohio State (14) barely won, Auburn (8) lost, and Nevada (23) lost.

Tonight is the Battle of the Blues: Duke at UNC. Throw records out the window, this can be very good.

Trivia: In more than 25% of the national champions for the last 34 years, Duke or UNC has claimed the title. Since 1985 there have been only 11 Final Fours without Duke or UNC.

So I will say this: Go to hell Carolina!

Looks like after 33 years of futility, the Loyola Ramblers have a pretty good chance of making the tourney. DePaul hasn't been there in almost 15 years and I don't see them getting there again any time soon. The days of convincing the top Chicago players of attending DePaul are long gone.

As for Northwestern, it appears there lone appearance in last years tournament was a one and done, not unlike many of the best players who spend only a year at a top program and go pro.

So I've got an actual rooting interest this year, a lot of my cousins attended Loyola. Go Ramblers!

Im sure it will be a easy win for Duke. UNC just dosent have the talent this year, they have one guy, Berry.

Bite your tongue. Duke is like the Carolina Panthers: become the favorite, go down in flames.

All the local media have Duke to win.

But yes, on paper they should win, bigly. I think after their dumpster fire in NYC against St. John's, Coach K will have them properly motivated.

I have been looking forward to it for a while now. They are playing at UNC so there is a slim chance for a upset but I doubt it.

I tell you, it's because people pick Duke to win. That is the kiss of death.

Duke was a completely different team in the second half, they could not rebound, and they're one of the best rebounding teams in the nation, number two or three I think.

They are quickly racing to find a spot in basketball obscurity this year. I'm about done with it.

Clemson is doing pretty good this year. Unexpected for sure. And I'm very glad UNC beat Duke.

Clemson isn't bad. They don't have the talent/strength to make a deep NCAA run, but who knows? They sure can wreak havoc in the ACC, though.

UNC has good pieces, they just have had a bunch of games where they weren't all on the same page. Duke has one issue: defense. When they have marginal defense, no one can stop them.

I fucking hate UNC, and if ol' Whiney Roy keeled over today I wouldn't even read the obit....

I'm sorry Devildoc, but as a Kentucky fan and since they suck this year, I enjoy watching Duke lose

I have always been ambivalent about Kentucky. Never really thought about Kentucky much, but I love 'the shot.' :)

But Kentucky has their own problems this year for sure....

Eventually the KY fan base will get tired of Calipari's single-minded focus on his players' future NBA careers and start demanding he concentrate on winning championships or leave.

That is the way it should be. NBA careers mean nothing at the college level, and college basketball has become what have you done for me lately.

Speaking of KY, and unless things change dramatically, if they make the NCAA Tournament this year it's because they're Kentucky, not because they're one of the 64 best teams in college basketball.

Sorry to see the loss. That is a problem Virginia, with the style they play, if it is a tight game in the end it could go either way.

Right now they are number 24. There is no way they're not making the tournament unless they lose probably four or five more games.

With today's tournament format, you really do not need to be a good team to get in, marginal works.

After losing their third in a row yesterday I expect them to fall out of the top 25. Their next few games aren't going to be easy, either; a 5-loss streak isn't unthinkable.

That said, your closing statement is spot on. Odds are KY will be at best an 8 or 9 seed, even though they probably deserve one of the play-in spots.
