Im happy that UVa didnt have to play Duke in the finals last night. The semi final UNC vs Duke game was a shocker to me. Bagley just had a bad night,he dribbled to ball off his foot a couple of times and made many bad passes and few shots. They just had a bad night all together. I would rather play UNC then Duke any day because when Duke is playing well they are awesome. I hope they do well .

For being the overall 1 seed, Virginia's bracket is harder than the West. The committee gifted UNC with a trip to the Final Four.

Duke will likely play Oklahoma with Trey Young, followed by meeting Michigan State again in the Sweet 16 (if they make it that far). Duke has an uphill battle.

Good article about Virginia, and putting seasons in context. People get so wrapped up in recency bias. Virginia is a really, really good team, and past seasons are not necessarily indicative of current success/failure.

Great to see Radford win last night and get a shot at Villanova. If "IF" Radford could beat Villanova and Virginia Tech beats Alabama they they will play each other.
Radford and Virginia Tech are 20 miles from each other and that would be great for both my local teams playing each other in the dance.
GO HOKIES!

Radford, home of the Highlanders. That might be an omen.

I taught ROTC at Radford the year I retired. Nice to see them in the big dance. I'm not liking their chances against 'Nova, but hey, it's a nice story.

They're making their annual once-a-decade appearance in the tourney.

Since '98, they've been showing up every ten years or so. It's becoming something of a Radford tradition, I think.

I like Radford. I am much more ambivalent about Tech. I'd like to see Radford win, but it ain't happening. 'Nova is a tough win for anyone.

When I taught at Radford you'd occasionally see a kid in an RU Football "Undefeated since 1978" shirt. Pretty cool. I think it was 78 when they quit playing football.

It will. I think their bench and strength will still take them far but it definitely alters how hard they are going to be.

And even then it will depend on someone knocking off Arizona. My best hope is for the final four...

You know, I am quite familiar and Ok with the anti-Duke animus. But a lot of teams with fans that are anti-Duke, I actually like. I like Virginia, I always have. I would love to see them win (I don't think Duke will, I have them going out against Mich State in the Sweet 16...Michigan State was underseeded and should have been a 2).

For the overall 1 seed, I think Virginia has a harder bracket than the West. But, it's doable if they get past Arizona. Kentucky night be a threat if they are 'on,' but I think Cincy is the weakest 2.

Loyola takes on #5 seed Miami at about 2 this afternoon. Should be a good game, Loyola is even being picked to win this won by some analysts. It might be asking too much for them to get past the round of 32, though.

A buzzer beater knocks the Hurricanes off the dance floor.

In the words of the Zen philosopher Carl Spacker, "it's a Cinderella story".

I have a feeling we might be in for a similar ending with the Davidson/Kentucky game.

Well, Virginia's path just got a bit easier with University of Buffalo knocking out Arizona.
