Yountville Veterans Home, is run by the State of California, no V.A. Police on the grounds.

Not anymore. Someone broke the rules. I didn't think that was allowed.

Veteran's homes should have M1s on the fucking walls.

Color coded CCP. Not a good sign, but I am sure is precautionary.

Took hostages. That means he wants to live...maybe a way out for them (hopefully).

I was forced to disarm as an LEO a few years ago when I walked into the Cleveland VA. I was carrying my issued Sig226 because I was coming from work.

Local news in that area reported that the suspect is a patient at that facility. There were also several comments that it could not be confirmed if the reported gun shots were live ammo...which is...odd...

Because it's federal property or what? That makes no sense.

No not metal detector, I had my hoodie on but it wasnít totally concealing my handgun and registration saw it. I very politely showed showed my Police ID and they asked me to leave and place it in my car. I asked the VA Police Officer that escorted me to my car if he was going to stand guard by it. He didnít appreciate that..

To be honest I thought I was covered under LEOSA, but it specifically states federal buildings arenít covered if you arenít on official business.

I had the same issue at a VA Hospital in PA years ago. I think it's in the USC VA regs that say no weapons are allowed on VA property. Some hospitals have storage boxes for visiting LEOs on official business. You may try to repost in LEO as I'm sure some VA police officers can provide more details than I can.

Fox News and CNN had this story at the top of their pages. Now I can’t even see it on the main page. No death toll, no news. Imagine that..
