7mm Rem Mag is the go to because of availability and price.

once fired 257 brass, well you get that with the used rifle you buy. I am kind of shy about having the wrong head stamp on cases although that round shoulder should keep accidents from happening.
Buy once cry once.
You can keep an eye on the classifieds at 24 hour campfire. occasionally you can find brass there or at least slightly reduced factory from someone who is moving on to other calibers.

I love my 257 Wby Mag and it loves the 117 grain projectiles. It shoots better than I should be able.
