The O-ring shouldn't be needed for proper function. The 7.62x39 AR's do not operate at the same type of pressure that the 5.56 guns do.
This was my initial thought, so I dissembled and found 2 things; 1, the doughnut and 2, the extractor pivot pin was REALLY hard to get out.

I am gong to try and shoot it with the BCG from my carbine.
