Thumbs up Afghan Law Advisor (SME), Lawyers, TS/SCI, $200K+, AFG

Summary: Advisor to Essential Function 3 (EF3) (Rule of Law) Direction and section on all matters of Afghan law.

Responsibilities: Advises NATO and international community on Afghan counter-corruption investigations, Afghan GVHR investigations, and legal operations. Trains, advises and assists (TAA) Afghan government entities, to include judiciary, regarding preventing, tracking, investigating, and prosecuting significant acts of corruption and gross violations of human rights (GVHR). Acts as liaison among NATO, Afghan government, and international community on Rule of Law matters. Assists in managing EF3 staff in order to further a Rule of Law culture within Afghanistan.

Required Skills:

Active Secret clearance.

Knowledge of planning, designing, or leading projects involving the Rule of Law.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across cultures and language barriers.

Demonstrated ability to conduct effective training.

Demonstrated experience managing a staff, preferably in an international environment.

Possess a degree from an accredited institution that accords the ability to practice law in the candidate's home nation.

Must be a licensed attorney in good-standing and admitted to the highest court in his/her respective jurisdiction.

Must have at least 10 years of experience as an attorney including a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of criminal law.

Must have at least one previous overseas assignment and/or employment working with a foreign legal systems and rule of law operations.

Must have experience working with Afghan law and legal systems.

Must be willing and able to work under austere conditions on an Afghan Government facility in coordination with Afghan officials and other international mentors.

Medically deployable.

Preferred Skills:

Experience in international prosecution, mentoring, justice reform, and Rule of Law capacity building.

Experience living in Afghanistan.

Period of Performance: 12 months deployed

TAAC Counter Corruption Advisor (Senior), TS/SCI, $185K+, AFG

Summary: The Train Advise Assist Command (TAAC) Counter Corruption Advisor is a member of a liaison detachment that coordinates and liaises with Afghan Security Forces, Counter Corruption Targeting Staff, and TAAC personnel.

Responsibilities: Member of a liaison detachment responsible for daily direct coordination and liaison with Afghan Security Forces, Counter Corruption Targeting Staff, and Train Advise Assist Command (TAAC) personnel. Conducts briefings to key leaders and coordinates activities between various governmental agencies while maintaining a strong relationship with the TAAC HQs. Analyzes complex problems and synchronizes TAAC regional efforts towards counter-corruption. Completes required personal weapons qualification prior to deployment.

Required Skills:

Active TS/SCI clearance.

Ten years of experience, seven of which must be military or law enforcement experience plus a masters degree or equivalent experience.

One year of deployment experience in Afghanistan or Iraq.

One year of military, law enforcement, or judicial advisory experience.

Medically deployable.

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge and experience dealing with counter-corruption, counter-narcotics, or threat finance.

Experience as a Law Enforcement Professional (LEP); member of an Embedded Training Team or Police Mentor Team in Afghanistan;

Task Force 2010; the Combined Joint Interagency Task Force-Afghanistan (CJIATF-A); CJIATF-Shafafiyat; or CJIATF-Nexus;

Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction; or other counter corruption organization.

Period of Performance: 12 months deployed
