Mac is just now getting back up to speed with his new career, and Azatty would have to hide it from his wife. No new guns for them any time soon.

Phase one (sell FN FS2000 to fund new purchase): complete

Phase two (patiently await rifle to be shipped to FFL): pending

Will do. I'll get out to the range and report back as soon as the heat during the day won't kill me.

Did they have them in stock, or have to build it as ordered, i.e. give you a wait time?

I looked at the ad, and lost interest when I saw that my old pal John S. Meyer is hawking these guns...

I'm guessing they're built to order since I ordered a few days ago and have yet to get a "your order has been shipped" and a tracking number. Charge on my credit card is still "pending" too.

Any research in a good optic or red dot for it? One that mounts, old school style, to the carrying handle? Yeah, I know Trijicon makes some great ones, but they cost as much as the carbine itself.

Mine is shipped and will be in my hands on Mon. Will let you know what I think on Tues. Im planning to set it up like it was 1979 and see if I can shoot it as good as I did back then. A Class 7 FFL I know is working on his to make it a Class III, will see if his turns out the way he wants it to then decide if it would be worth it...

Any self-respecting XM-177 wouldn't be caught dead wearing optics... Just not right. Like a poodle skirt over jungle boots...

Is that a red dot or something?? I thought the woodland camo would have been the uniform before something like that came out.

Holy crap ARF has a whole thread on it:

Pretty neat

Next you'll want to put a rail on it.

And paint it FDE, with some magpul accessories added.

Or I could just be like a vintage SEAL, and strap bandoliers of exposed ammo around my chest when I go to the range.
