Cold and wet here in SoCal translates to Avg. 70* temps and 3-5 days of rain.

ETA: For the entire "winter"

My Freeze plugs popped on my boat last winter even with a Biogradeable AF in it. It was that cold here in Virginia.
I will pass on having it cold again!

Being a retiree I love it when I get snowed in. I just put logs in the woodstove and perfect my formula for turning Guinness into piss till it melts.

I like the ole wives tales about winter predictions. My ole Granny use to tell me if the hornets built their nest high it would be a bad winter.

I trust nature way more than I trust meteorologists!

Nature has way more "on-the-job-training" and natural ability to discern acts of nature than we humanoids do.

I love snow. I hope it dumps more than what we've had recently. I love all the seasons. Summer's why I like Winter and vice versa

My prediction... Cold, with intermittent periods of light and dark.

First snow this afternoon. Ground is covered with a light dusting so far. More to fall overnight with below freezing temps. With the dry summer the fall foliage hasn't even peaked yet.

I have a 100% accurate prediction. Works every time.

Somewhere at certain times there will be snow, somewhere else at other times there will be none, there will be rains in some areas and in others it will not rain, it will be windy in some places and not in others, it might get cold in certain areas and in others there will be quite warm temperatures but it might be warmer or less warm. There might be earlier winter this year and even late winter or even normal winter. Or maybe early winter that stretches into late winter.

Jokes aside, I guess it's true for the CONUS as is for Poland - a strong, harsh winter greatly reduces population of many viruses and insects.

Crazy Fall so far. Here in Knoxville I've still got 90% of the leaves on my trees and they've barely changed color. This past weekend was the first cold snap we've had. I've got to mow the grass today even.
