Two Up-Armored Suburbans for sale. $85K ea

Posting for a friend. One B6 and one B7. I drove their vehicles recently in Somalia. They make good stuff and that's a great price. I think this was the result of a customer backing out of an order.

That isn't a bad price at all. A little big for Philippine roads, but the B7 armor level is about right. Just saw a B6 armored Toyota Fortuner for sale today, used, for 4M PHP, which is about 77K USD. Even with shipping either of your mate's vehicles would be a bargain.

I would have liked to have one when I was doing EP in Chicago about 20 years ago. Should be almost mandatory, now. :)

Does it come with those funky looking rims? That's a deal breaker for me.

Once in a while I go online and look up prices for B7/B6 armored vehicles when I get on one of those SHTF kicks. I wish...

For you, the rims are extra....

It's a damn good price.

A basic B6 Landcruiser generally runs $125K-$160K. This is not a basic B6.

A B7 is significantly more.

I think they just want to move them.

Somebody will buy them and then outfit them "just like they did back in Iraq"- go-bags, chest rigs, and flag/blood-type patches everywhere- then drive them to and from their office job, dodging trash and roadkill the entire time.

Definitely worth the price, and they drive so well given the extra weight...

Those bad boys have got to have some impressive springs under them. I've never seen an armored car that sits above stock ride height.

Yeah they are taken down to the frame and built back up. Suspension, drive train, brakes....basically everything. That much weight requires a lot of engineering.

One of the little tips I picked up about armored vehicles. Leave a door open overnight. See if it shuts the next day. Easy way to tell if the vehicle was engineered properly or not.

Looks like about 2 miles per gallon. I like the Fed lights feature for rush hour traffic though. Definitely a DC car.

I'd be more interested if I hadn't driven these things in Baghdad for 4 years. I never saw one that wasn't junk by 25k-30K miles, (and we weren't dogging them real hard or anything, the clients we were transporting were far too intolerant of "creative" driving technique") and often with major component replacements needed before then. Factory curb weight 5000 lbs, up armored weight 10K. As with putting .40 cal in a gun designed for 9mm (Glock, I'm looking at you) it WILL work, but lifespan/time until issues occur, drastically reduced.

Rented one back here when I was out on rotation. Used to 10K pds, now driving a regular one like a fucking sports car. Would have scared the crap out of the family if they weren't used to how I normally drive. The couple of friends who rode along during the time I had it out, their initial facial expressions could easily be described as "concerned". Good times.

I drove one of the armored suburbans around Iraq for a while. I loved it because the AC system cranked and I could hook my MP3 player into the sound system. Unfortunately, we lost two of them an IED the last month of our tour. One of our guys was pissed when I told him that he had to take the QRF out to recover the frame from the one that burned after it got hit.
