Good to go. Only improvement could be this part:
"The homeowner's son volunteered to give a statement at the sheriff's office."

As a general rule, it might be a better idea to provide that statement through your lawyer instead.

Yeah, saw this in the news yesterday. Sounds like there have been a stream of robberies in the area. But, they did not count on one homeowners son lounging about during the day at his parent's home.

Read that they also now have caught the 21 year old female get-away driver.

Glad to see it turned out good for him and he had the presence of mind to do what he needed to do.

I hope he does well from this point and is able to drive on!

Great job young man. 3 against 1 (well maybe two but it doesn't say anything about the other person in the home)

Cue the "they were good people and didn't deserve to die for robbing a house " speech in 3, 2...

Home invasion robbery... what do you even say to that? I can't imagine after having been to several pawn shops and seeing what they offer for electronics and expensive tools how these people thought it would be worth the risk. Well if this doesn't pop up next time somebody says we don't NEED assault rifles. Looks like they sure come in handy sometimes huh?

Follow on story says the idiots brought a knife and a pair of brass knuckles to the home invasion. Hahahaha, to be a fly on the wall to see the look on their faces when homeboy busts out the AR.

"oh shit. I've made a huge mistake.........."

Hope they got hit in the Pelvic Girdle.
Good job on that young man protecting what is his. Dirtbags need to learn there are consequences to breaking into homes. And taking things that don't belong to you.

I'm interested in seeing the updates as this case progresses. Something just seems "off" to me. Like it's not as cut-and-dry as it initially appears.

I as well have some questions, suspicions. Seems pretty astute, if it is the case (and well done) if it was a break in, son hears them breaking in, grabs an AR and stops the intruders.

But, I will have to admit, it says "Drugs" all over it.

If it happened as a random break in, followed by home defense well then good.

That's an interesting angle. Let's say drugs played a role here, should that impact the outcome of this for the victim?

Self-defense is self-defense...regardless of the initial action even if a crime was involved. Drug dealers shoot each other all the time over bad drug deals and are often cleared due to "self-defense."

I would expect as much, unless it can be proven that drugs were used as bait to intentionally lure the suspects into a trap or something.

An update to this story: 21 year old driver, Elizabeth Rodriguez, has been arrested and charged with 3 counts of murder. Win win.

Thumbs up

Seems like a good shoot.

The one thing that seems weird about this story is that the intruders came armed with knives and brass knuckles and that, according to the reports, there was an exchange of words between the shooter and the intruders before he began shooting.
It makes me wonder if they knew each other and that the intruders may have been there to kill him
