STI and SVI (Strayer Voigt) both make some of the best stuff out there, but you pay for that quality.

Since this pistol has already been gifted, please feel free to re-gift it to either myself or my spouse. We all know that she shoots better than you, me and Sharky anyway. Or, I can find a nice place to bury it for you in my yard until a suitable replacement spouse becomes available for your daughter.

Too late. She is spoken for already.

He probably wants a son not another daughter.

A combined son from that gene pool.... wow, the kid would be born with webbed feet and a dip in.

For all that is Holy - Please do not let Sharky get married again - Especially to TFG's daughter!!! After ~2 years it would be a Hatfield and McCoy scenario on SOCNET.

I'd actually be the Designated Driver now - I've gotten really boring.

Designated Driver. Uh huh.......suuuuuure. I wont mention the alligator you molested, or the blood all over the inside of that elevator, or the glass pane busted in that same elevator. I could keep going....All I did was get my ass beat by a squad sized element of strippers, and one DJ, who is now dead. That bastard.

Surprisingly, or maybe not, I concur with this 100%.

A 1911 out of the box is a sum of its parts. RIA/Armscor is using or making parts as close to the traditional 1911 of infamy (Colt or Remington Rand) as you can get. Out of the box in random batch tests, they have significantly higher MRTF counts than batch tested Colts, Kikbers (sorry TFG!), or Springfield offerings.

For the $1500-2000 price range though, the CZ Dan Wessonís are incredible. They have a pretty much perfect balance of the clean, custom built feel, great options for sights or bobtail cuts in all the common calibers, and still maintain the loose clearances that allow the guns to run well with various pressures of ammo.

Iíve done repairs and Gunsmithing on everything from Nighthawks to Para Ords down to Llama or ATI 1911s. The hand fitted guns from custom shops (Les Baer, Wilson, Ed Brown, Nighthawk, etc) display a higher failure rate when it comes to functioning for the customers long term. There are reasons for this that make it somewhat less of an insult to those custom shops than it might sound. Like the guys buying a $4600 pistol built with a particular ammo as itís tunin goal and wondering later why low pressure bulk 230gr reloads donít cycle a tight fitted slide.

Anyway, the only other 1911s Iíve seen perform as well as the RIAs do is the Sig iterations. Aside from my disdain for them as a company, their external extractor design is a much better and more reliable concept.

STI makes phenomenal purpose built pistols. Think competition guns and race guns. Probably not ideal for daily carry though haha.
