Thumbs up The Descendents

Just saw this Clooney film - great story. Shot all in Oahu/Kauai, made me homesick for KBAY. Def worth full admission.

Good solid film.
I agree.

I saw it today - loved the 'hang loose' languid flow of the film - I'd pay to see it again.

Some of the scenes of George drinking near the water at the "Outrigger Surf Club" were filmed at my Elks Lodge.... Elks Lodge 616 which is at the base of Diamond Head....on Waikiki Beach.

And yes...we made a nice chunk of change that went into our Charity funding......

I went with some folks from our Lodge that are local.....we all enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.....

I hate Clooney think he's an arrogant asshole. So my question is this: Is the movie worth watching if I can barely stand the sight of Clooney?

I met him on the set 2-3 times and he was the nicest guy in the world.... He gave out autographs and posed for pics with younger members of our Lodge that were there watching the filming.....

Not sure what you base your statement on..... But if you don't like him....I doubt you will like the film since he's the lead/main character......

You've got to separate the art from the artist.
I worked different jobs in the music business for a number of years (as a musician, a club manager, a booking agent and a tour manager to name a few) and dealt with countless musicians personally and professionally... including a number of well known acts.
There were some good down to earth people... and there were some arrogant scumbags.
I could not like them, but still like their music.
It's the same with movies.
I love movies like Braveheart and The Road Warrior... but I don't think I'd want to discuss Israel with Mel Gibson.

You don't have to like George Clooney, just the character he's portraying.

Just his whole attitude and body language when I've seen him in interviews and stuff. He may be a nice guy but he has always rubbed me the wrong way.

I HAVE watched some of his movies but they have to be entertaining enough for me to get past him.

I'm weird Most women love him and think he's good looking, sexy and charming. (shrug)

Good points and I have liked some of his movies once I got past him. I guess I'm a freak of nature not being a lesbian and not thinking he's a sexy hunk.

I just watched this and it was outstanding. Although I don't usually like Clooney he was awesome in this film. I'd give it two rousing thumbs up.

It was also very nice to see places in Hawaii that I've been to. Beautiful. Made me want to go back again.

I really need to investigate movies before I rent them. I thought this movie was going to be funny. It was okay... and not funny.
