Eddie the Eagle

On a whim rented this. Turned out to be a pretty good movie. Kind of your typical underachiever/feel good sports movie. But, pretty good, based on a true story and very funny at times.

Well worth the rental.

I caught it on a flight recently. Laughing out loud when you are the only one with headphones on gets some weird looks. Definitely worth the watch.

Very similar in theme and motivation to The World's Fastest Indian or Cool Runnings. I also caught it on a flight, and am glad I did. If you grew up watching the Wide World of Sports, with that gnarly ski jump wipeout in the opening credits, this is an absolute must-see! Great cast - I love Jackman in his non-Wolverine roles, and the guy who played Eddie was pretty spot on for the real Edwards.

I'll pick it up on DVD for sure. I wouldn't spend the $$ on Blu-ray, just not enough visual candy to rate the extra.

That was me in 2003 on a Untied Airlines night flight from Bangkok to Narita. I'd bought the South Park movie in Patpong Rd market and was watching it on a laptop with headphones. My OIC, sitting in the back of the plane, later told me it was hilarious seeing all of the Japanese tourists (who were trying to sleep on the red eye) getting irritated at the one gajin laughing out loud keeping 1/2 the plane awake. And seeing me being totally oblivious to their anger.

"The World's Fastest Indian" is one of my favorites. Anthony Hopkins did a great job.

It's like "Rudy" but with more than one tackle.

Yeah, they definitely got the casting right for Eddie. The actor looks like his twin.

x2.

Pretty good "can't keep the little guy down" movie. Not quite as good as Rudy, but a decent flick.
