As the series end approaches, this thread should probably merge with the Conspiracy Theory thread.

I don't think that mofo GRRM will ever finish this series.

Looks like HBO is exploring some spinoffs.

https://www.wired.com/2017/05/george-r-r-martin-game-of-thrones-books/

I will NEVER purchase another GRRM book until he completes the series.

I'd love to just walk up & kick him in the nuts for fucking around with the fans regarding completing the series.

Of & have I mentioned I hate that asshole?

LMAO

As soon as the show came out you should have just kicked the books to the curb. Best part about watching this show is not giving a shit if, or when, the author ever writes another novel.

The Season 7 opener was really solid. I like how this is coming together.

Season 7 E01 good and bad

Good:
Ninja Arya.
Jon Snow growing into a king. Granting amnesty to the Karsark and Umber kids was the right choice
Euron Greyjoy basically calling Jaime a bitch
WIGHT GIANTS. let sink in
Jaime pointing out that Cercie is Queen of THREE kingdoms at best
Lyanna Mormont is still a pint sized badass

Bad:
Sansa is still a power hungry bitch
Littlefinger is still alive
Sams parade of shit and soup......

Overall? solid episode

One of the things I've learned over many years of watching some of these epic, sweeping shows on cable or regular TV is that the finale is bound to disappoint a wide swath of the fan base.

Wonder how Martin is coming along on those books...

The only good part of the season opener was Arya knocking off that family!
Looking forward to more of her new skills.

Is there any scenario where Arya winds up sitting on the throne?

I don't think she's interested in the throne. She never wanted to go to Kings Landing to begin with and has never really sought favor or political power. I CAN see her becoming a "problem solver" for a joint John Snow/ Daenerys Targaryeon dynasty though.

Not on her agenda at all.

Comments on the season opener?

SPOILERS:

I believe Jamie has realized he may need to also become a Queen Slayer. Cersei has managed to get all their kids killed through her machinations and thirst for power.

Also, remember the Stark sword was melted and made into the sword Jamie gave to Brienne of Tarth and the other to Joffrey (which I think Jamie has now). Both are Valaryian steel which kills Whitewalkers ... what would happen if the 2 swords are re-combined?

Also in the GOT preview it looks like Jon Snow is at Dragonstone & Daenarys is there now & Samwell Tarly just discovered a mountain of hidden dragon's glass is there.

Plus all the Valaryian steel swords are reappearing. Doesn't Jorah Mormont have a Valaryian blade? His arm shot out of the food door when Tarly was collecting bowls. And Tarly also has a Valaryian blade.

Or am I remembering wrong? I AM sleep deprived big time.

What are your theories about how things are going to progress.

I wasn't referring to whether or not she wanted to sit on the throne, merely a scenario where she winds up there. She wouldn't be the first monarch who reluctantly ruled the realm. That said, I doubt it will happen. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if some unlikely candidate didn't wind up on top at the very end. Varys, for instance.

Littlefinger will be dead before the first half of the final season has ended.

He's a lot like Joffrey, only smoother and more urbane.

I love the show... but cheesy lines like that are a reminder that they are not using the author's words anymore.

What will happen to Sam when it's discovered he cured Jorah with a forbidden procedure and "borrowed" some books?
