Finall went thru a full-body scanner at an airport

I went thru the full body scanner at the Albuquerque airport a few weeks ago. Completely voluntary.....No fuss no muss. The operators were actually pretty cool about the whole thing and you could tell they chose some TSA-types with a little more personality than the usual bag checkers. In fact, I noticed that each one of the body scanner stations even had a female that was fairly decent looking. Coincidence?

One of the operators of the scanner I went through noticed my EOD bling (necklace) and turned out he was 20-yr EOD (retired AF). Good dude and now a friend.

Only issue at the scanner was I had to get a hand-held scan of my right pants pocket. Nothing there, but they thought they saw a shadow. They had pretty good sense of humor when I commented that it was probably the shadow off my man-tool.

All-in-all a good experience and IMO the people operating it were clearly a little sharper than the average TSA lazy fucks with attitudes.

If it was your man-tool, then those handheld scanners are not effective for items that small...

And that pic is funny as shit

I went through one at Salt Lake City. It was totally voluntary with another screening method if you wanted.

I did see in the news that ths guy was less than sure of him self.

http://www.cbs12.com/news/screener-4...t-federal.html

Quote:
A federal screener at Miami International Airport has been arrested for beating up a co-worker.

Rolando Negrin, a TSA screener in Miami, passed through one of the airport's full-body scanners during a training exercise, and one of his co-workers started teasing him about the size of his genitalia.

Police say Negrin attacked his co-worker with a baton and he was charged with battery.

The full-body scanners enable screeners to get a good look at each passenger, allowing them to see right through clothing, but passengers at PBIA have mixed views on whether they're an invasion of privacy.

Lisa McGrady, air traveler from Chicago, said, "I haven't personally experienced one yet. But it sounds a little intrusive."

"I don't think anyone is going to be comfortable going through a full-body scanner. But I think most people feel they have to do whatever is necessary and the way thing are today, I think it just happens to be a necessary evil," said Stanley Shechtman, an airline passenger from the Boston area.

Others were not bothered by it.

Sarah Lopez, air traveler from Atlanta, said, "It really doesn't bother me that much. I would rather feel safe than anything else. So if it prevents somebody from getting on the plane who's not supposed to, that's okay with me."

"Unfortunatlely in the times that we're living, If this is something that we have to do for our safety, then I'm just gonna do it," said Millie Colon, an air traveler from Philadelphia.

Currently, Miami, Tampa and Jacksonville airports have the full-body scanners.

The TSA says no decision has been made if or when Palm Beach International will get them.

So a metal detector wouldn't have picked up that revolver? (they should use a different pic). So what is the deal...does it obscure the genital area, like every politico/suit has ensured the public...or is it all "out there"? Sounds like what was promised, and what that screener went through ^, are contradictory.

So we have 2 incidents since 2001 (Reid and Abdulmutallab <---who was allowed to board so big fish could be caught) out of how many domestic flights total?...a trillion? Those two ^ have been programmed nicely.

On a serious note....

Looking at that scanner image above, the soles of the shoes appear obscured. Would it have picked up the "shoe bomber"?

Shoes/feet are the weak point on these things. It's a problem they are working on.

When I went through one in Chicago, I still had to remove my shoes and put them through the regular X-ray belt.

When I went through, it caught me by surprise. The entire side of that terminal was using them, you either got that or a pat down. Normally with the metal detectors I can keep my belt on, wallet in my pocket etc.. and not set off the machine. You couldn't have anything in your pockets or a belt on with this, so there was a bit of a slowdown as people who though they were good had to do some last minute pocket clearing.

I wonder how long it takes the TSA to get hit with a lawsuit from a worker that has PTDD (Post Tramatic Dong Disorder) from seeing this shit...
