Yup...up, he sees me...I'm gone. Meanwhile, in the middle of that laurel thicket...warm piss and shit is usually running down your leg.

Ruffed Grouse and Blue Grouse, two totally different creatures. I have never hunted grouse in these parts. The mountains were easy pickins though. I don't recall ever getting skunked on a Blue Grouse hunt. Blue Grouse are dumb as rocks!

Haha, I was waiting for that. We make this a couple times a year. Makes killer Rubens the next day with some homemade kraut and spicy beer mustard.

For regular roast I found using V8 juice is pretty good for the liquid.

NOT MY FAULT.

There is an invasive species of popular trees that just drop kernels everywhere.

I have three wild apple trees around my place, dead center of an open pasture field...Now, the way I see it--those deer gotta navigate that field to eat those apples, so I save them the trouble by relocation. I relocate those apples to the woods to help those poor deer by providing good cover while they feed in utter bliss and seclusion.

PETA....

10 years ago , before the farm decided to expand, they reclaimed six acres of land including the apple orchard. I had a tree stand in a big old cherry tree. It was right out of a hunting show sweetspot. Freaking bummed me out when I found out it was all gone. They came in with a bulldozer! Those deer loved those apples.

I’m guessing juvenile black bear.

Definitely worthy of the “caption this picture” thread...

I'm no bear expert, but it's a full grown bear. I'd put it around 250.

The gray haired guy is my buddy Steve that I fish with a lot. He visits a couple about 20 miles from me that actively feed the bears, which is quite stupid and highly discouraged. They have two that just hang around like dogs.

Not smart. I had a problem bear relocated in my AO several years back. DNR came and set a trap but he was wise to it. Bothered some other folks too on the flanks. I had to go nocturnal for about 3 wks to keep him off my back deck.

I heard someone put a slug in his belly. I dont know? Never saw him again.
