I had the honor of meeting the General 2 years ago at the Stone Mountain Georgia Highland games. He came up and started talking to us at our (VMI) pipe band booth and mentioned that he had served in the corps. He never mentioned rank or anything but after a few minutes we asked if we could get a picture with him. He goes in his pocket and hands me his MOH and asks me to help him snap it in the back of his neck. I was in awe right there and didnt even know what to say since he was the only MOH recipient i had even met. He later told us he was a retired USMC General and when i got back home i looked up what he did and was truly amazed. He was truly a gentleman and had our respect the second he walked to our area. I need to locate that pic ASAP and post it here
RIP Sir. You truly were a legend and will be missed
