Falcon Loss

Rod "K2" Richardson and Guy "Bear" Barattieri and two Iraqi Kurds were killed late yesterday while moving from a site back to their CP.

K2 was a retired Marine who is very well known in the Marine Recon community. He worked numerous international jobs to include the original KPD, Bremer Detail and others before becoming the COO of Falcon Iraq.

Guy was a former active duty and current reserve SF Officer. Guy served on mulitple ODA's and led a team during OIF. He was a TL with AKE prior to working for Falcon.

They were well respected and had many friends.

Both were married. Families have been notified.

Guy was also former Seattle Police, and K2 earned his callsign as a support climber on the 2002 K2 Himalayan expedition. I just spoke to him 2 days ago about going to do some climbing.

Unhappy K2

Rod worked with me for me right out of high school. He was an outstanding young man. I kept up with him through his father and infrequent visits. We lost a great Marine, American and Patriot. I attended funeral services on Saturday, it was a very moving experience. Rest well Marine!
