RIP
For some reason, a photograph of TSgt Mayo, a crewmember aboard the C-130 who perished, sticks out. It was him off duty, leaning over a grill at a cookout in happier times. That photo I saw in one of the newspaper reports just stuck with me.

RIP Gentlemen, I was a MSG in the Beirut Embassy at that time and we went into lockdown for quite awhile expecting retaliation from Iran via their factions in Beirut. Then Reagan got elected

When the lights came on their was a loud pop from the ceiling and hundreds of psyop pamphlets came raining down from the roof. They were from the 1st Gulf War advising the Iraqis to surrender. It was quite the theatrical event and was intended to get people to join Special Operations. At that time I already had my packet in for selection.
