Supposedly he also once told Gene LeBell that no one could choke him out, kept pestering LeBell to try.

So Gene of course promptly choked him out and Segal shit his pants while unconscious.

(Joe Rogan says LeBell told him this story)

I enjoyed Seagal movies back when he was new and was surrounded by quality actors and decent direction. Above the Law was a good storyline and characters, and I also liked Under Siege...and putting him opposite Sharon Stone and Erika Eleniak helped a lot in those. As did actors like Tommie Lee Jones. But, to my understanding he let ego (and age) get the best of him and became difficult to work with. Wanting complete "creative" control, and not letting anyone "upstage" his characters even a little. From what I understand he became essentially an entitled douche. Now, the consequences of that come back to haunt him.

It's too bad, because without all the stupid, unwatchable shit-flicks he's trashed us with (and a little humility)... he could have been good at this point in the same old/evil characters that Fat Brando played in his career. Instead of just being lame.

Ranger Hazen who used to be on the board brought this up years ago, which I think he also witnessed.

Just saw a post on FB that Hazen has multiple brain tumors and not doing well at all.

No shit...I never liked the guy, got into a few heated arguments with him on the USARA FB page. But I wish no ill will towards him, and hope for the best in his current medical condition.

Don't get me started on old hunting buddies that now think guns are evil and a secure border is rAcist. And yet, these are friends since kindergarten...MF! How do I save them? Logic has no effect.

Damn, I hadn't heard that bad news about Hazen. Bill and I were in the same platoon together... he was in the machinegun squad, and I was in 3rd squad.

After he ETS'd and went NG SF he really started to get lefty in his viewpoints... may have been his surroundings, though, being a Hollyweird writer and all.

Prayers out, Bill.

Same here. I always liked Hazen, despite his political leanings. Met him once at a Ranger reunion in Reno. He was not really what I expected, but then again I am not sure what I expected, either. Odd cat, but I liked him....even when he stirred shit here.

He was a big part of Pete "Spiderman" Parker's Ranger list-server WAY back in the day....

Gene chokes everyone out. He sneaks up behind noobs and chokes them out. Kind of weird, but a rite of passage I guess.

That's how I got over here... I was on the list server (which, by the way, was the absolute greatest thing ever, hands down, except for the 'digest' option of email every day, that took three hours to read , and Hazen told me to come over to something called SOCnet.

I've been pondering this for a few weeks since you wrote this.

There is some interesting truth in that post Mako, and I would be interested in further deeper analysis about "the standard" you mention.

As a (f#@k) "harmless" (no-game?) married old-dude now...I want to truly consider your thoughts on this concept (before I take the iceberg float). Or perhaps worse, just accept my future fate as just a "wallet" once-and-for-all.

So, did the losers just not pay enough...long enough?

Because in many of these complaints...I see something along the lines of "we were in his hotel in Cabo, laying naked and he made me feel uncomfortable" (so pay me) or "we agreed to not go any further, but after my clothes came off..." he made me leave in tears (so pay me) type shit.

Douchebags yes...but it may be more about abusing the power itself (on both sides) than to simply sate their sexual appetites. There are much simpler easier ways to just do that, if that's all it was.
