I've got 10% for the ringing and 0% for hearing loss in both ears, but they figured my job made it service connected, so the free hearing aids, battery's and service.
Note (3) in Fu King Lawyer's post had me laughing, as I've asked my wife several times if she could hear the ringing in my ears.

are the hearing aids digital or analog?

They're Bluetooth, so I presume digital.

I was given Signia hearing aids by Siemens. Retail (private) cost $6k (free for me). Batteries for life. I requested the non-fancy ones that are the smallest they can make. No Bluetooth or the like for me, yet. I just got them to ensure that I met deployment hearing standards.

Nothing to do with rated hearing loss...
Stretch Sr. recently got a pair of hearing aids. They have made a huge difference for him. Not Bluetooth, his phone is not that smart... :D He is more engaged because he can hear conversations and NOT YELLING when he speaks. Good luck! |

It's been a while since I read this thread. Mine were actually issued for hearing loss AND tinnitus. The hearing aids do not cure either problem, no more than a knee brace cures a busted knee I am receiving benefits for now. I still receive benefits even though the VA has issued me a knee brace and hearing aids.

Question - How many years does it take to get them replaced through normal FWT?

Good question. I just read this as I was getting close to the Audiology clinic so I popped in there. According to one of the nurses that works with hearing aids, there's no longer a set time where you get them automatically replaced. If you think they are bad bad, not working or something like that, you go to the clinic and they will get you a new hearing test, and/or they will attempt to repair the ones you have. If they are unrepairable and the doc says you still need them then they will order you a new pair. But I can tell you if you break one like I did, I step on it and crushed it, they do replace it pretty soon.

Slightly off topic...just starting to look into hearing aids for my mom. Dad was retired mil and passed away a while back so she is SBP/Tricare.
From the little research I've done it looks like Tricare doesn't cover them at all. She needs them bad, so I'm OK going out of pocket if I have to. Anyone else have different info? |

Same here. I have always been mystified as to how and why they'll give me money every month for something I claim to experience but that they can't measure or confirm while they won't compensate me for something that is easily and accurately measured.

It's the VA top, don't be applying common sense to any of it. I'm SC for hearing loss in one ear, but not SC for the other.
You need to at ease that crazy ass common sense talk. |
