Guy was also former Seattle Police, and K2 earned his callsign as a support climber on the 2002 K2 Himalayan expedition. I just spoke to him 2 days ago about going to do some climbing.

Unhappy K2

Rod worked with me for me right out of high school. He was an outstanding young man. I kept up with him through his father and infrequent visits. We lost a great Marine, American and Patriot. I attended funeral services on Saturday, it was a very moving experience. Rest well Marine!

He returned mortally wounded, and his friend, whom he had carried back, was dead. The officer was angry. 'I told you not to go,' he said. 'Now I've lost both of you. It was not worth it.' The dying man repied, But it was, sir, because when I got to him, he said, 'Jim, I knew you'd come.'"
